Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager was activated from the seven-day concussion list injured list ahead of Thursday's series opener at the Toronto Blue Jays.

Seager has missed the last 12 Texas games after sustaining the concussion during a collision at the plate with Royals catcher Carter Jensen. The Rangers went 4-8 without him to fall four games under .500.

He's third in the lineup and starting at short in his return to the lineup.

As a corresponding move, Texas placed utility player Cody Freeman on the 10-day IL with a herniated disk.

Seager, 32, has been limited by multiple injuries this season, playing just 47 games in the first three months of the season, previously missing 19 games due to lower back inflammation.

The five-time All-Star and two-time World Series MVP is hitting a career-worst .186 with nine homers, 24 RBIs and 54 strikeouts this season.

He's a career .285 hitter with 230 home runs and 691 RBIs in 1,178 regular-season games with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2015-21) and Rangers (2022-26).

Freeman, 25, is hitting .235 with no extra-base hits or RBIs in seven games this season for the Rangers. He debuted last season for Texas and is hitting .229 with three homers and 15 RBIs in 43 career major league games.
