Boston third baseman Caleb Durbin exited in the third inning of Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies in Denver with a left pinky finger subluxation, the Red Sox announced.

He sustained the injury when sliding into first base to try to beat a relay throw from Rockies first baseman TJ Rumfield to pitcher Kyle Freeland.

Durbin, 26, was replaced by Marcelo Mayer, who took over at shortstop with Anthony Seigler moving from second to third base, and Andruw Monasterio moving from shortstop to second base.

Durbin, who went 0-for-2, is hitting .218 with five home runs, 30 RBIs and seven stolen bases in 71 games in his first season with Boston.
