Josh Hader Tue May 5 10:50pm ET

Houston Astros closer Josh Hader (biceps) threw a scoreless inning with a walk and a strikeout in his rehab appearance with Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday. The 32-year-old is on the 60-day injured list due to a biceps injury, which means he is not eligible to make his return to Houston until late May. Still, it's a positive sign that Hader is taking steps in his progression back to the big leagues. Hader was dominant for the Astros in 2025, pitching to a 2.05 ERA and 0.85 WHIP with 76 strikeouts and 28 saves across 52 2/3 innings. Houston has struggled to fill the closer role in Hader's absence, with right-hander Enyel De Los Santos currently leading the team with three saves. Upon his return, Hader should immediately re-assume the ninth-inning role for the Astros.

Gerrit Cole Tue May 5 10:40pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole (elbow) struggled in his rehab outing with High-A Hudson Valley on Tuesday, allowing seven hits and five earned runs across 4 1/3 innings. Cole threw 69 pitches, recording four strikeouts without walking a batter. The veteran right-hander has now made four rehab starts as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery, which caused him to miss the entire 2025 season. Cole was placed on the 15-day injured list before the start of 2026 and is eligible to be activated at any point, but the Yankees said before his start on Tuesday that he's still a little ways away from returning to the big leagues. Cole was an effective pitcher in 2024, pitching to an 8-5 record with a 3.41 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 99 strikeouts across 95 innings (17 starts). He may no longer be the Cy Young candidate he once was at his peak, but Cole should still provide fantasy-relevant production upon his return to the Yankees.

    From RotoBaller

Carlos Rodon Tue May 5 10:40pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (elbow) threw 83 pitches across 6 1/3 innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. The veteran left-hander struggled, allowing seven hits, five earned runs, and two walks while recording four strikeouts. Still, Rodon has now thrown 16 innings across three rehab outings as he works his way back from offseason elbow surgery. If he comes through this outing without any issues over the next few days, Rodon's next start could come in the big leagues. The 33-year-old was excellent for the Yankees in 2025, recording an 18-9 record with a 3.09 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 203 strikeouts across 195 1/3 innings (33 starts). Upon his return, Rodon should be rostered in all fantasy formats.

    From RotoBaller

Grayson Rodriguez Tue May 5 10:20pm ET

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) is scheduled to throw five innings in a rehab outing in the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. Rodriguez has yet to take the mound in an MLB game in 2026 due to shoulder inflammation, but he appears to be making progress towards a return. If Rodriguez makes it through his start on Tuesday without any setbacks, he may only need another couple of rehab outings before he's ready for a promotion to the big leagues. The 26-year-old missed the entire 2025 season due to lat and elbow issues, so it's been nearly two full calendar years since he last pitched in the majors. Still, Rodriguez was effective in 2024, recording a 3.86 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 26.5% strikeout rate across 116 2/3 innings (20 starts) for the Baltimore Orioles. In deeper fantasy leagues, Rodriguez could be worth stashing off the waiver wire ahead of a potential return.

    From RotoBaller

Yusei Kikuchi Tue May 5 10:10pm ET

Los Angeles Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said that starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder) will be shut down for "three to four weeks with the hope he can build back up as a starter thereafter," per ESPN's Alden Gonzalez. Kikuchi was placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday due to shoulder inflammation. The 34-year-old was off to a rough start to 2026 before the injury, posting a 0-3 record with a 5.81 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, and 33 strikeouts across 31 innings (seven starts). Given his struggles and the uncertain injury timeline, Kikuchi is a drop candidate in most fantasy formats. Left-hander Sam Aldegheri will get the first chance to take Kikuchi's spot in the Angels' starting rotation.

    From RotoBaller

Noah Cameron Tue May 5 9:40pm ET

Kansas City Royals left-hander Noah Cameron (back) said he started to develop back tightness after his last start, but that he's capable of pitching through it, according to Anne Rogers of MLB.com. The Royals want to be cautious with him, but manager Matt Quatraro said the team doesn't expect him to miss more than one start. The 26-year-old southpaw was scratched from his start on Tuesday against the Cleveland Guardians as a precaution. The Royals activated right-hander Stephen Kolek from the 15-day injured list, and he filled in for Cameron on Tuesday. As long as his back tightness doesn't persist, all signs point to him making his next start at some point this weekend versus the division-rival Detroit Tigers. The former seventh-rounder in 2021 out of Central Arkansas has not been very sharp so far in 2026, posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and 28:11 K:BB in 31 2/3 innings across six starts in his second year in the majors. We would not recommend Cameron as a fantasy streamer if he pitches against the Tigers this weekend.

    From RotoBaller

Jake Cronenworth Tue May 5 9:30pm ET

The San Diego Padres placed second baseman Jake Cronenworth (concussion) on the seven-day concussion injured list on Tuesday and recalled infielder Sung-Mun Song from the minors in a corresponding move, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. The 32-year-old Cronenworth will miss at least the next week of action due to a head injury, giving Song his first real opportunity in the majors. Song, a South Korean native, is making the start at the keystone for the Friars on Tuesday and is batting ninth against San Francisco Giants right-hander Logan Webb. It's been a rough year for Cronenworth, who is hitting .144/.272/.196 with one home run, four RBI, 13 runs scored, a stolen base, 14 walks, and 23 strikeouts across 114 plate appearances and 32 games in his seventh year in the majors. He's been even worse at the plate recently and could use a mental break. He's now rostered in less than 10% of Yahoo leagues. Song, who hits from the left side, could handle the strong side of a platoon at second with Fernando Tatis Jr. for however long Cronenworth is sidelined.

    From RotoBaller

Michael Harris II Tue May 5 9:20pm ET

Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Harris II (quadriceps) is starting in left field and batting cleanup for Tuesday's contest against the hosting Seattle Mariners and right-hander George Kirby at T-Mobile Park, according to MLB.com. Harris has been battling a quadriceps injury for the last week, and it has kept him out of the lineup for the last two games. Despite the less-than-ideal matchup in his return to action, the 25-year-old left-handed hitter should be returned to starting lineups in traditional fantasy leagues. Harris has been especially hot of late at the plate and is slashing .318/.351/.551 with a .902 OPS, seven home runs, 22 RBI, 13 runs scored, and two stolen bases across 114 plate appearances and 33 games this year. Since April 19, he has gone 17-for-41 (.415) with four homers, three doubles, 14 RBI, and six runs scored across 14 games. He will be searching for his first career hit against Kirby on Tuesday night, although he's only had five at-bats against him.

    From RotoBaller

Sonny Gray Tue May 5 9:20pm ET

Boston Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said that "all things are pointing toward" right-hander Sonny Gray (hamstring) coming off the 15-day injured list to make the start in Wednesday's series finale against the Detroit Tigers, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com. Gray has been sidelined since April 21 with a hamstring strain. The 36-year-old veteran hurler won't be an ideal fantasy starter in his first game back in a tough matchup against Detroit, and because he will be returning to the big-league starting rotation without making a minor-league rehab start. In his first five starts in his first year with the Red Sox before tweaking his hamstring, Gray has gone 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA (4.49 FIP), 1.30 WHIP, and 13:5 K:BB in 23 innings pitched. The veteran pitcher isn't dominant and saw a noticeable dip in velocity in 2025, but his arsenal is diverse enough to still get big-league hitters out. Gray is more of a back-end, matchup-based fantasy starter, and he's currently rostered in 88% of Yahoo leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Carlos Correa Tue May 5 9:10pm ET

The Houston Astros scratched infielder Carlos Correa (ankle) from the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers due to a left-ankle injury, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. Nick Allen was activated from the 10-day injured list and made the start at the 6 for Houston, with Braden Shewmake starting at third base against Dodgers right-hander Shohei Ohtani. Correa injured his ankle during batting practice before the game. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day before checking to see if he's available for Wednesday's series finale against L.A. The Astros are already short-handed at the 6 with Jeremy Pena (hamstring) on the IL, so they can ill-afford a long-term injury to Correa. In his first full season back in Houston, Correa has handled himself nicely at the plate so far, as he came into Tuesday's game batting .279 (34-for-122) with three home runs, 16 RBI, 22 runs scored, and a stolen base across 32 games played.

    From RotoBaller

Gerrit Cole Tue May 5 7:00pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole (elbow) is making a rehab start with High-A Hudson Valley on Tuesday. When asked about the situation, Yankees manager Aaron Boone mentioned that Cole is still a "little ways away" from making his season debut. The right-hander is working his way back from Tommy John surgery that he underwent last March. His outing on Tuesday will be his fourth rehab assignment of the year. The Yankees are clearly being extremely cautious with their ace starter. It seems possible that Cole could make another start or two before returning to the Yankees. The expectation is that Cole should be ready to rejoin the team by the end of May.

    From RotoBaller

Kirby Yates Tue May 5 7:00pm ET

Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Kirby Yates (knee) has been activated from the 15-day Injured List on Tuesday. Yates has been sidelined all season long due to left knee inflammation. The expectation is that Yates will immediately slide into a high-leverage role in the Halos bullpen. If he pitches well, it shouldn't take long for Yates to possibly claim the closer role. The Angels are looking for a long-term solution, and Yates is the most experienced arm in that bullpen. He could be worth an add in deep leagues where reliable save options are hard to come by.

    From RotoBaller

Cal Raleigh Tue May 5 6:40pm ET

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (side) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Raleigh is back in the mix following a three-game absence due to right-side tightness. It's great to see him back in the lineup, as it was beginning to feel like a stint on the Injured List was going to be required. Raleigh will serve as the designated hitter and bat second against right-hander Bryce Elder. The assumption is that Raleigh will be back behind the plate in a few days. Fantasy managers can safely plug Raleigh back into their lineups ahead of Tuesday's first pitch.

    From RotoBaller

Tarik Skubal Tue May 5 6:40pm ET

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal (elbow) is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies from his left elbow on Wednesday. The southpaw was placed on the 15-day Injured List on Monday after being scratched from his scheduled start. The Tigers haven't given an exact timetable yet, but it's assumed Skubal is looking at around a three-month absence. That means Skubal is likely going to be sidelined until around the All-Star break. The Tigers should provide more information following the surgery on Wednesday. This is obviously a huge blow to the Tigers and to fantasy managers who were counting on the two-time CY Young award winner.

    From RotoBaller

Roman Anthony Tue May 5 6:20pm ET

Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony (wrist) isn't in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Anthony is currently considered day-to-day after suffering a right wrist sprain during Monday's game. He visited with a hand specialist on Tuesday, who revealed encouraging news. It doesn't sound like Anthony is going to require a trip to the Injured List. Anthony will likely miss the next few games, but could be back in the lineup by the end of the week. The Red Sox should give a better timetable on his return once they see how he progresses over the next few days. Jarren Duran will take over in left field for Tuesday's game in Detroit.

    From RotoBaller

Max Muncy Tue May 5 5:00pm ET

Athletics third baseman Max Muncy (hand) still isn't doing any baseball activities, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Muncy is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday, but there remains no timetable for his return due to a fractured fifth metacarpal in his left hand. The 23-year-old former 25th overall pick in 2021 is probably only worth holding in AL-only fantasy leagues right now. Through 26 games before his hand fracture, he hit .239 (22-for-92) with two home runs, seven RBI, 15 runs scored, and two stolen bases across 104 plate appearances. As a rookie with the A's in 2025, Muncy slashed .214/.259/.379 with nine long balls, 23 RBI, 17 runs scored, and one stolen base in 63 games played. Perhaps the most attractive thing about him is that he's eligible at third, second, and shortstop. Muncy will need to make more consistent contact at the plate when he returns to attract more interest in fantasy leagues. He's currently rostered in 14% of Yahoo leagues. In his absence, Darrell Hernaiz has seen most of the playing time at third for the A's.

    From RotoBaller

Luis Garcia Jr. Tue May 5 4:50pm ET

Washington Nationals infielder Luis Garcia Jr. (wrist) is dealing with a minor right-hand/wrist sprain and is considered day-to-day, according to Spencer Nusbaum of The Athletic. Garcia said he will not go on the 10-day injured list. Garcia was pulled from the game early on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers after injuring his hand/wrist. The 25-year-old is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the visiting Minnesota Twins, and he could miss additional time this week. With Garcia still sidelined, Curtis Mead is starting at first base in D.C. and will bat third in the batting order on Tuesday against Twins right-hander Taj Bradley. Garcia is slashing a mediocre .234/.259/.336 with a career-worst .595 OPS, a home run, 16 RBI, 14 runs, two stolen bases, four walks, and 19 strikeouts in his first 33 games of the 2026 season as Washington's primary first baseman. He's rostered in less than 50% of Yahoo leagues and isn't a must-hold in deep-mixed formats.

    From RotoBaller

Joe Ryan Tue May 5 4:40pm ET

Minnesota Twins right-hander Joe Ryan (elbow) played catch on Tuesday and is scheduled for a bullpen session on Wednesday after his MRI exam came back clean on Sunday, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. The Twins pulled Ryan from his last start early against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday due to right-elbow soreness after he threw just nine pitches. As long as he gets through his bullpen session without any issues on Wednesday, Ryan should be cleared to make his next start this weekend against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians on the road. The 29-year-old might have some restrictions this weekend as he comes off a nine-pitch outing, though, which will make him a dicey fantasy play following his injury scare. Ryan was a first-time All-Star in 2025 in his fifth year in the big leagues after going 13-10 with a 3.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 194:39 K:BB in 171 innings pitched. He's 2-3 so far this year through eight starts, allowing 21 runs (16 earned) while walking 10 and fanning 40 in 38 2/3 frames. Ryan should be rostered in all fantasy baseball formats.

    From RotoBaller

Trevor Rogers Tue May 5 4:20pm ET

Baltimore Orioles left-hander Trevor Rogers (illness) is with the team in Miami this week and is on the other side of the nasty illness that had him "feeling like death" for three days, according to Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun. He did some throwing at Camden Yards over the weekend. Rogers' energy levels are still coming back, but he's on the right track. The Orioles played the left-handed veteran on the 15-day injured list last Friday with a bad case of the flu. If he continues to recover at this pace, he's expected to come off the IL when he's first eligible on May 11. The former 13th overall pick by the Miami Marlins in 2017 will be a pretty risky fantasy start in his first game back in Baltimore's starting rotation after going 2-3 with a 4.75 ERA (3.74 FIP), 1.45 WHIP, and 27:10 K:BB in 30 1/3 innings across his first six starts of the 2026 season. Rogers looked terrible in 2024 after the O's acquired him from Miami, but he bounced back nicely with a 1.81 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 18 starts in Baltimore a year ago. He's currently rostered in 75% of Yahoo leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Ben Rice Tue May 5 4:10pm ET

New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice (hand) remains on the bench for Tuesday's contest in the Bronx against the visiting Texas Rangers, per MLB.com. Paul Goldschmidt is starting at first base for the Yankees and will bat sixth against Rangers veteran right-hander Jacob deGrom. Rice will miss a second straight game after suffering a hand contusion in Sunday's game. The injury doesn't appear to be very serious in nature, so fantasy managers should check back to see if the left-handed slugger is ready to return to the lineup for Wednesday's game against Texas. The 27-year-old former 12th-rounder in 2021 out of Dartmouth College is proving to be one of the best all-around hitters in the game after his breakout in 2025. Through 108 at-bats in 2026, Rice is hitting an impressive .343 with 12 long balls, 27 RBI, 30 runs scored, and two stolen bases in 33 games played. He leads the league in average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, OPS (1.214), and rOBA (.508). Goldschmidt is an easy fade in DFS against a dominant right-hander whom he's hit .125 against with an RBI and a .347 OPS against in eight career at-bats.
