Minnesota Twins star center fielder Byron Buxton was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right hip strain that will prevent him from playing in next week's All-Star Game in Philadelphia.

Buxton was voted to start for the American League but will need to be replaced due to the injury that he aggravated on Sunday.

Buxton missed four games last week with a hip impingement. He returned to play Saturday against the New York Yankees but had to exit Sunday's contest in the first inning after he attempted to steal second.

Buxton, 32, appeared to grimace while getting tagged out by shortstop Anthony Volpe on the play.

This is Buxton's second hip injury of the season.

He is hitting .271 with 25 homers and 45 RBIs in 75 games this season. Entering Tuesday's play, Buxton is second in the American League with a .575 slugging percentage, third in homers and sixth in OPS (.904).

This marks the third time Buxton has received an All-Star nod. He also was selected in 2022 and 2025.

Buxton has a .250 average in 12 seasons with the Twins. He had 193 homers, 481 RBIs and 124 steals in 137 attempts in 973 games over 12 seasons.

Minnesota recalled outfielder Alan Roden from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. He is batting .272 with eight homers and 24 RBIs in 33 games for the Saints.

Last season, Roden played 55 games for the Toronto Blue Jays (43) and Twins (12) and batted .191 with two homers and nine RBIs.
