Braves right-hander Spencer Strider is going to see Dr. Keith Meister for an evaluation after he was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right elbow inflammation, Atlanta manager Walt Weiss told reporters before Sunday's game at the New York Mets.

Strider exited Friday's 7-5 loss to the Mets after three-plus innings. He allowed a season-high seven earned runs before his fastball velocity dropped drastically from 96 mph earlier in the game to 88 mph in the fourth inning.

"You always expect to see inflammation when somebody's hurting," Weiss said Sunday. "So we just want to let Dr. Meister get a look at it and get his diagnosis."

Strider, who began the season on the injured list with a left oblique strain, is 4-2 with a 5.31 ERA in eight starts this season. He has a serious history of elbow injuries, undergoing Tommy John surgery when he was at Clemson in 2019 and getting a brace put into the UCL in his right elbow -- a less-significant version of the procedure -- in April of 2024.

Strider, 27, has a 43-26 record and 3.86 ERA across 98 games (85 starts) in the last six seasons for the Braves. He has 672 strikeouts and 180 walks in 494 career innings.
