Brooklyn Dodgers Fri May 1 11:11pm ET

True those old timers wouldn’t allowed to be pulled out

Charlie Baseball Fri May 1 10:38pm ET
I was just telling my son I would love to have seen a reaction from Bob Gibson or Jack Morris after that. Still my favorite story was when Tim McCarver went out to talk to Gibson after he walked a hitter. Gibson told him to get his ass back behind the plate because the only thing he knew about pitching was that he couldn't hit it.
Fireskunks Fri May 1 9:21pm ET

It would take a lot more than a leg cramp to get me out of a no hitter.

Brooklyn Dodgers Fri May 1 9:17pm ET

Yeah I seen the longer video of him he looks like hi is shaking his leg. But his initial reaction he was shaking his arm right after the pitch

Brooklyn Dodgers Fri May 1 9:13pm ET

It’s not confirmed but he just threw a pitch and called out to the trainer and was shaking off his elbow it looks bad…

More serious is Luis Pena last Friday he collapsed towards the end of the game. The media is calling it dehydration but he going to see a neurologist on Monday. There a real possibility that we never get to see Pena in the show.. a concussion that happened last season and the brewers are sitting him from the jump once or twice a week even with a off-day on Mondays..

Charlie Baseball Fri May 1 8:30am ET
Your taxman is making u run thru unnecessary hoops. I replied in email with more detail.
Brooklyn Dodgers Fri May 1 7:57am ET

In order to avoid a taxable event if you win over 600 in profit your winnings get taxed. Everytime you purchase a team it counts against the profit.

for example if you paid 2,000 on enterance fees and you won 3,000 dollars you won 1,000 dollars profit and according to the government that money has to be taxed…. However if you purchase 401 in next years teams you profits for the year is 599 and your winnings are no longer a taxable event.

Example I purchased my teams last season and I didn’t purchase my teams in the current season so my entrance fees are essentially 0 now if I win the same 3,000 dollars I have a taxable event of 3,000 so I would need to purchase 2,601 from 2027 to get under 600 profit for the year.

Charlie Baseball Thu Apr 30 11:11pm ET
Curious, what tax purposes are u referring to that dictate which year u buy your teams?
Brooklyn Dodgers Thu Apr 30 9:55pm ET

I don’t care what and who people trade each other as long as it’s not collusion between two teams. If someone gets ripped off I just laugh at the donkey 🫏…

I had only two instances that I complained one was back in 2022 were the same two teams were trading 8 for 2 while one of the teams kept changing his name after the trade and making the trade with another name… when I told Logan he emailed me that I needed to move on when I told him that it was BS that I just wanted him to look into it. They made one last trade and then the guy trading his best players put his team for sale and when I called him out on the chat he purchased his team. If that’s wasn’t collusion then WTF is.

the second instance was this off-season in the keystone league the same one I am in it with kluber and Yahtzee a team made a trade while his team was up for sale. And sold his day two days after the trade. It got me mad because I wanted to wait to purchase my teams this year for tax purposes. Sometimes I believe that people in RTS are in cahoots with certain players because it seems certain players are able to exploit loopholes because I could even look at trade offers unless I paid my 2026 season fee.

the right answer is probably a little bit of this, a little bit of that and then close your eyes as you roll the dice.....wish i had a $1 for every potential all star I held too long that never panned out and another $1 for all the ones that didn't look good at all for 2 or 3 years and I got rid of them just before they turned into the studs they were supposed to....

Brooklyn Dodgers Fri Mar 27 2:31pm ET
Edited: Fri Mar 27 2:35pm ET

I never really look into those stats Charlie shit maybe I need to start looking into them

made has the edge on those stats but guy doesn’t chase like Pena made is going to be a on base machine..iif you calculate how many total bases per at bat I’m sure Pena would be higher because made had 79 more at bats to generate more total bases if that makes any sense? Pena obp in low A before concusion was .375

made: .379 obp, 187TB (453 at bats)

pena/ .335 obp, 159TB (374 at bats)

Charlie Baseball Fri Mar 27 2:09pm ET

I guess I'm too much of an oldtimer or not smart enough for all the latest analytics. I do quite a bit of judging off of the simple on base % and total base metrics. Those relate closer to points for me. When I see guys like Ben & Rice Royce Lewis in the top 10 of some stat it makes me wonder how useful the stat really is. Again, most likely just means I'm an old timer or not smart enough to fully understand how those other stats relate.

on base %                               total bases

Juan Soto - .396                     Ohtani - 380

Ohtani - .392                           Judge - 372

Perdomo - .389                       Raleigh - 351

Guerrero - .381                       Schwarber - 340

Brooklyn Dodgers Fri Mar 27 1:22pm ET

sticky upside is based on certain factors example

hit tool- in zone contact, chase rate. Barrels, launch angle and other factors

Power tool - is based on how hard you can hit the ball the harder you hit the ball the more potential for homeruns. granted hit tool plays a factor on if you can tap into that power, prospect projections also take into consideration players frame example Konnor Griffin is 6’ 4” so he has more room to increase his exit velocities by adding muscle

speed tool - is how fast you are the faster you are the potential for stealing more bases granted you have to get on base for tapping into that speed.

You can compare made and Pena when both healthy in Low-A keep in mind that’s a over 300 at bat sample size while the high a sample size is just a little over 100 at bats..

made

Low A  20.6 k% and 14 bb%

high A 17.9 k%

pena

Low A 13.3 k% and 9 bb%

High A 24.8 k%

im just saying when you compared Pena to Made before the concussion Pena got he wasn’t the same when he came back… I saw video of Pena guy has elite bat to ball skills but like guys with elite bat to ball skills tend to expand the zone

Look at 2025 mlb players who had a 113 max EV

- **Kyle Stowers**: 113.7 mphl

- **Ben Rice**: 113.5 mph

- **Austin Riley**: 113.9 mph.

- **Brent Rooker**: 113.3 mph.

- **Wyatt Langford**: 113.1 mph.

- **Royce Lewis**: 113.7 mph.

- **Matt Chapman**: 113.5 mph.

- **Christian Walker**: ~113.2 mph

- **Christian Yelich**: ~113.4 mph.

-**Bryce Harper 113.8 mph

my biggest concern for Pena that I don’t have for made is the ability to hitting the breaking ball because he hasn’t proven it. it’s a small sample of 100 at bats but Pena saw over 60% breaking pitching in high A and struggled I don’t know if he wasn’t right from the concussion or he just struggled or both. But we will see he either rises to the challenge  and becomes Brooklyns next superstar or waddles like a duck and is thrown back to the sharks but the upside is there

Hit or Get Off the Pot Thu Mar 26 3:10pm ET

Pena is a solid prospect and will probably be a good big leaguer (as long as his approach improves). That's not the point. Made has a much higher ceiling and is already more refined than Pena. And I don't think the Brewers promoted Made to AA, after he dog-walked A+ pitchers, because of defensive abilities.

Brooklyn Dodgers Thu Mar 26 1:44pm ET

Sticky Balls 69 wrote: lol. The brewers clearly think higher of made based on their actions. But I’m sure Brook’s single event max ev is more important than the brewers evaluation!

Yes made is a superior defender and a actual infielder… Pena is not a infielder and has no chance of playing shortstop in mlb… so even if the bats of made and Pena are = made has far more valued to the brewers based on position potential at the mlb level..

sticky 113 for a 18 year old is impressive especially for a guy with a 16% k rate and 8% walk rate…  there players his age who can’t get that with metal bats
